Energy Subsidies Geneva 2026

Photovoltaics via the federal Pronovo scheme, heat pumps and insulation via the cantonal Buildings Programme, municipal bonuses. Abelarti completes every application for you.

Geneva and the energy transition

Geneva is historically the most generous French-speaking canton for residential energy subsidies, and the only one to pay a cantonal bonus dedicated to photovoltaics via its ECO21 programme and the SIG distributor. Geneva owners can combine the federal Pronovo One-Time Remuneration with the cantonal PV bonus — a unique situation in French-speaking Switzerland. ECO21 also covers heat pumps, insulation and Minergie renovations, with a strong focus on phasing out fossil fuels.

Photovoltaics (PV). Geneva is the only French-speaking Swiss canton to offer structural cantonal support for residential photovoltaics, via the ECO21 programme and the sole distributor SIG. It can be combined with the federal Pronovo One-Time Remuneration. Some Geneva municipalities add a further flat-rate bonus.

Flagship cantonal programme. ECO21 + éco21-Entreprises + Geneva Buildings Programme. Covers : Photovoltaics (French-speaking Switzerland exception), heat pumps, insulation, windows, solar thermal. Heat pumps CHF 5 000 – 12 000, insulation CHF 30 – 90 / m². Application to be filed before the works begin — annual budget.

When to apply? File the application before work begins for heat pumps, insulation and the cantonal PV bonus. Geneva remains the most generous French-speaking canton, but processing times can be long (6–10 weeks).

Municipal bonus. Several municipalities in the canton — notably Genève, Carouge, Lancy, Meyrin — may offer flat-rate top-ups of CHF 500 to 3,000 on one or another component (PV, heat pump or insulation). We check your municipality before issuing the quote.

Subsidies in Geneva — what our clients ask

What is the solar (PV) subsidy in Geneva in 2026?

For residential photovoltaics in Geneva, the support is Federal Pronovo + ECO21 / SIG bonus. For a typical 8 kWp installation, the Pronovo one-off remuneration represents approximately CHF 2,800 to 5,600, to which any applicable municipal or cantonal bonuses are added.

What does the ECO21 + éco21-Entreprises + Geneva Buildings Programme programme cover for my project?

The cantonal Buildings Programme covers: Photovoltaics (French-speaking Switzerland exception), heat pumps, insulation, windows, solar thermal. It is open to owners of primary and secondary residences in Geneva, for new installations as well as replacements. A few exceptions exist (complex co-ownerships, protected zones). For photovoltaics, it is the federal Pronovo one-off remuneration that applies. Abelarti checks your eligibility for each component during the study.

When should I submit my application in Geneva?

File the application before work begins for heat pumps, insulation and the cantonal PV bonus. Geneva remains the most generous French-speaking canton, but processing times can be long (6–10 weeks). Submitting at the start of the year (January-March) maximises your chances of getting it validated before the cantonal budget runs out.

Can I also benefit from a municipal bonus?

Several municipalities in the canton offer additional energy bonuses, notably Genève, Carouge, Lancy, Meyrin. The amounts range from CHF 500 to 3,000. Abelarti checks your specific municipality and includes the bonus in the quote estimate.

How long between my application and the payment?

Typical cantonal validation: 4 to 10 weeks. After installation, payment follows 2-4 months later. The federal Pronovo subsidy arrives 3-6 months after commissioning. In total, 6 to 12 months between submission and the final payment — Abelarti manages these deadlines.

Are the subsidies the same for a second home?

It depends on the canton. Valais and Jura are generally more favourable; Geneva is more restrictive. For Geneva, we confirm your eligibility during the study.

What happens if my cantonal application (heat pump or insulation) is refused?

Rare but possible (budget exhausted, building not eligible). For photovoltaics, this risk does not apply: the federal Pronovo one-off remuneration is guaranteed with no budget cap for any compliant installation. For the heat pump or insulation, we help you reapply in the next cycle or explore alternatives (energy-related tax deductions, municipal bonuses).

Is the storage battery subsidised in Geneva?
