For residential photovoltaics in Geneva, the support is Federal Pronovo + ECO21 / SIG bonus. Geneva is the only French-speaking Swiss canton to offer structural cantonal support for residential photovoltaics, via the ECO21 programme and the sole distributor SIG. It can be combined with the federal Pronovo One-Time Remuneration. Some Geneva municipalities add a further flat-rate bonus. For a typical 8 kWp installation, the Pronovo one-off remuneration represents approximately CHF 2,800 to 5,600, to which any applicable municipal or cantonal bonuses are added.

The cantonal Buildings Programme covers: Photovoltaics (French-speaking Switzerland exception), heat pumps, insulation, windows, solar thermal. It is open to owners of primary and secondary residences in Geneva, for new installations as well as replacements. A few exceptions exist (complex co-ownerships, protected zones). File the application before work begins for heat pumps, insulation and the cantonal PV bonus. Geneva remains the most generous French-speaking canton, but processing times can be long (6–10 weeks). Submitting at the start of the year (January-March) maximises your chances of getting it validated before the cantonal budget runs out.

Several municipalities in the canton offer additional energy bonuses, notably Genève, Carouge, Lancy, Meyrin. The amounts range from CHF 500 to 3,000. Abelarti checks your specific municipality and includes the bonus in the quote estimate.

Typical cantonal validation: 4 to 10 weeks. After installation, payment follows 2-4 months later. The federal Pronovo subsidy arrives 3-6 months after commissioning. In total, 6 to 12 months between submission and the final payment — Abelarti manages these deadlines.

It depends on the canton. Valais and Jura are generally more favourable; Geneva is more restrictive. For Geneva, we confirm your eligibility during the study.

Rare but possible (budget exhausted, building not eligible). For photovoltaics, this risk does not apply: the federal Pronovo one-off remuneration is guaranteed with no budget cap for any compliant installation.
