Why air conditioning
Summers in French-speaking Switzerland are changing — your home can adapt
Heatwaves in French-speaking Switzerland are becoming more frequent and more intense. What was an optional comfort ten years ago is becoming a need — particularly for the elderly, young children and people working from home.
A modern air conditioning system does more than cool : it also heats during the shoulder seasons (reversible, more efficient than conventional electric heating), purifies the air (technologies such as Nanoe™ X), and runs in remarkable silence — 19 dB(A) for the top-of-the-range models. If you have solar, it uses your own electricity during the day, during the hottest hours.
Our approach
A solution tailored to your home, not a product pushed on you
Abelarti selects the system suited to your home, your needs (cooling, shoulder-season heating, air quality) and your installation constraints.
Tailored assessment
Rooms to be cooled, existing insulation, orientation, specific needs (allergies, working from home, multi-room).
Reversibility & A+++
Cool in summer, heat in the shoulder seasons more efficiently than an electric radiator. A+++ energy class.
Air quality
Filtration technologies (Nanoe™ X) to reduce allergens, fine particles and odours.
A single point of contact
From the assessment to after-sales service : an Abelarti advisor follows your project, without rotating subcontractors.

Reversible air conditioning and energy renovation
Reversible air conditioning is not systematically subsidised the way an air-to-water heat pump is, but it can be part of certain comprehensive energy renovations (particularly when it replaces conventional electric heating). The conditions vary by canton and circumstances.

Frequently asked questions
What our clients ask us
Is it really useful in French-speaking Switzerland?
Increasingly so. Recent summers have exceeded 35 °C for several consecutive days in cities across French-speaking Switzerland. A modern reversible air conditioner is also useful in the shoulder seasons, as a highly efficient supplementary heating source.
What is the difference between air conditioning and an air-to-water heat pump?
An air-to-water heat pump heats your central heating circuit (radiators, underfloor heating). A split air conditioner blows treated air directly into a room. They meet different needs — often complementary ones.
How much does an installed air conditioner cost?
For a single split unit (one room), expect an indicative range of CHF 3,500 to CHF 6,000 installed. For a 3-4 room multi-split: CHF 8,000 to CHF 15,000. This varies depending on the brand, power and installation complexity. Our study prices your specific project.
Is Nanoe X worth the extra cost?
For someone with allergies or with children, it is a real plus. Panasonic laboratory tests show a reduction in allergens, bacteria and odours. For purely cooling use, the LG Dualcool is more economical.
What is the electricity consumption?
An A+++ air conditioner consumes moderately for normal summer use. Coupled with a solar installation, most of this consumption takes place during the day — on your own electricity, which strongly reduces the impact on your bill.
Can the air conditioner be controlled from a phone?
Yes. Both brands offer apps (Panasonic Comfort Cloud, LG ThinQ) with remote control, scheduling, and Google Home / Apple Home integration.
How long does the installation take?
A single split unit is typically installed in 1 day. A 3-4 room multi-split requires 2 to 3 days depending on the complexity of routing the refrigerant lines.
What maintenance does an air conditioner need?
Cleaning the filters every 2 to 3 months (very simple, done by the user). Annual professional servicing is recommended to check the circuit pressure and overall condition. After-sales service is available.
Do I need a permit to install an air conditioner?
For a single-family home, generally no. For an apartment, the approval of the property management or the co-ownership is typically required (placement of the outdoor unit). We check the applicable framework during the study.
Can it be used as the main heating system?
A reversible air conditioner can provide heating in the shoulder seasons or as a supplement, but it does not replace central heating during the intense cold season. To replace a fossil-fuel boiler, see our heat pump page.
