SwissEnergy is the Federal Council’s program to support voluntary measures to improve energy efficiency and promote renewable energy. SwissEnergy supports projects, conducts information campaigns among the population and specific target groups, and offers a wide range of services in the areas of consulting and quality assurance. It also makes an important contribution to the training and further education of professionals needed today and in the future to transform Switzerland’s energy supply. SwissEnergy carries out its tasks in close collaboration with numerous partners from the business sector, public authorities, education, consumer affairs, and the environment. The legal basis for SwissEnergy’s work is set out in Articles 6 and 7 of the Swiss Federal Act on the Protection of the Environment (SwissEnergy). 47 (information and advisory services), 48 (training and continuing education), and 50 (energy and waste heat use) of the Energy Act; the SwissEnergy 2021-2030 mandate, which defines the strategic direction, was adopted by the Federal Council on December 7, 2018.
SwissEnergy is a program of the Swiss Federal Office of Energy (SFOE), which is part of the Federal Department of the Environment, Transport, Energy and Communications (DETEC). The SwissEnergy secretariat is located within the SFOE’s Energy Efficiency and Renewable Energies (EEA) Division, which is responsible for operational activities. The program management and strategic direction of SwissEnergy are the responsibility of the Head of the EEA Division.
In addition to the areas of applied research and development, such as pilot and demonstration projects, SwissEnergy aims to enable new technologies and concepts in the fields of energy efficiency and/or renewable energies to enter the market.
